Blazing Fast React Apps with AI: My Bolt.New Experiment

Recently, I had the chance to try out Bolt.New, and let me tell you, it’s a game-changer for quickly and easily setting up React applications with the power of AI. For a personal project, I wanted to build an app that would genuinely help me in my daily life – something I could actually use. My idea? A timer app specifically designed for my hangboard climbing training sessions.

My process started simply enough. I used the dictation feature on my iPhone to just speak out my idea, letting my phone transcribe my thoughts. Then came the magic. I pasted this raw text into Bolt.New, and almost instantly, it generated a fully functional React app.

From the outset, I was genuinely impressed by the speed and the quality of the generated code. It was the perfect kickstart to building my app. Downloading the code and pulling it into my own IDE was seamless. From there, I could easily make further improvements and customizations to fit my exact needs. To get it live quickly, I opted for a simple Firebase setup to deploy my app on Google.

Now, it’s important to note that the app is far from finished and still has a few bugs lurking around. However, the key takeaway for me is this: I was able to set up a working prototype in a remarkably short amount of time and with minimal effort. This prototype perfectly mirrored my initial idea and has already helped me visualize and begin to realize my vision.

For me, this was a truly fantastic experience, and I will definitely be integrating AI further into my workflow. I’m convinced that it has the potential to significantly improve my work and make my life easier.
